Even the most diligent and engaged staff might find the summer months challenging; it’s difficult to meet deadlines and make progress on projects when your teammates are off, the Boss is on vacation, the glorious sunshine is beaming in every window and the nearest patio beckons.
A well run business prepares well ahead of time to avoid any type of summer slow-down resulting from skeletal staff and overall ennui. With good planning, projects can still evolve during July & August:
1. Be sure to delegate accordingly and clearly communicate timelines; let everyone know how crucial it is for them to complete their key accountabilities before they go off to Muskoka for a week or take they day off to hit the front nine.
2. Keep a shared calendar; the entire team needs to know exactly who is in and when they are off.
3. Utilize the quiet time; take advantage of the opportunity to work with fewer interruptions. A minimally staffed workplace will allow you to focus.
